One Thing Web-3 Could Learn From the Space X Starship Launch.
On Gathering Intelligence And Data
Today was an amazing day for Space X and humanity as the largest and most powerful rocket successfully lift off the base. If you did not watch it yet I would recommend you to watch it now as it is really beautiful.
The rocket that launched today is one form of the rockets that will permit inter-planetary travel in the future.
Elon Musk, the whole team, the director of NASA and many more all called it a success. It actually was, but for laymen viewers, all they saw was the rocket ship blowing into pieces minutes after launch in space. How is this even remotely a success?
The launch was a success since the end goal was not for the rocket to orbit around the planet. It would have been nice if it did, but that was not the main goal. What helped SpaceX innovate in space travel as much as it did is one simple key: Data Gathering and Analysis. Each rocket has thousands of sensors to track different metrics.
The more data they had, the more each launch was closer to success since data would give insight on what went wrong and how to fix it. Since they were the first doing this feat, there was no historical data to rely on. They had to go through it in trial and error, and each trial was extremely costly but they knew that this is the only road to success.
You should follow a similar path in Web-3. It is a new and innovative space. Your project, your goal or your product will not succeed from the first try. You need to gather intel and data along the way.
Is your dApp frontend not receiving enough traffic or is the traffic not converting to smart contract executions? Add more sensors. Track each click on each button on the website, build 3 different versions and ship them and see which one succeeds the most and understand why, go through some trial runs and fail. We have been used to hype projects that succeed on the first day and make millions of dollars. This is not a scalable project, SpaceX was the underdog for 5 years and Bitcoin took 8 years to take off. Amazing products take time.
